How does the MK8 compare to the MK7.5? Quantifiably quicker and more sure-footed, 316BHP jack-of-all-trades is the perfect daily driver.
It's such a niche icon which is what makes it so important. The powertrain is a very familiar one, a 2.0 litre EA888 four-cylinder turbo which has now moved into it's 4th generation. It'll give you a very commendable 316BHP with 310lb-ft of torque, though it is the same engine we enjoyed in the MK7 Golf R, it has been tweaked by a significant extra 27BHP. The twin-clutch DSG transmission hosts seven gears and fires up the MK8 from 0-60 in just 4.7 seconds.
There is no doubt it is more dynamically responsive than the previous generations of Golf Rs. It is able to handle several electronic systems and applys the exact amount of appropriate torque to each of the wheels. This means taking on any corner is a delight, as the extra power it enables reach the outside rear wheel which helps improve the body as it bends.
The R offers different driving modes, which include Comfort, Sport, Race, and Individual modes, with the Performance pack, there is another 'special' mode that makes the car's systems configured for the Nürburgring Nordschleife. Not to mention the 'Drift' mode, which of course, is extremely useful for drifting.
All of this could be coming home with you for as little as just 89p, who could say no to that!
Huge congratulations to Nadim Umarmia who previously won a MK8 Golf R!
Good Luck!!
